The FOCUS SECURITY combines socio-psychological and behavioural economic research in the field of subjective risk perception and risk behaviour with elements from peace- and conflict research. RISK PERCEPTION and risk behaviour are crucial aspects for managing not only technical and natural risk, but also social risks. How, for example, does the perception of cultural otherness change if compared across national borders? Where are cultural differences in acceptance and acceptability of energy risks or of sustainable development? Or, which circumstances would change the willingness to invest more money in risk protection?
